Ruben van Heerden has been added to the Springbok squad and will join camp in Johannesburg on Wednesday evening ahead of the season opener against the Barbarians on 20 June.

The Stormers lock replaces Salmaan Moerat, who has been released due to injury. Van Heerden, 28, was a consistent presence in the Stormers engine room throughout the URC season and reached his 50th cap for the franchise this year.

Phepsi Buthelezi and Carlu Sadie, called up on Monday, have already reported to camp.

The Springboks face the Barbarians at 15h00 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on 20 June, with the SA 'A' side meeting Zimbabwe at the same venue from 12h00. Matchday squads for both games will be named next week.
