Ruben van Heerden has been called into the Springbok squad as a replacement for Salmaan Moerat, who has been released from camp due to injury. The Stormers lock joins the group in Johannesburg on Wednesday evening ahead of the season opener against the Barbarians next Saturday.

Van Heerden, 28, reached his 50th cap for the Stormers this season and was part of the side that lost to Leinster in the URC semifinals. He was not involved in that match.

Phepsi Buthelezi and Carlu Sadie, called up on Monday, have already reported to camp.

Rassie Erasmus and Mzwandile Stick will name their respective matchday squads next week — Stick steering the SA 'A' side against Zimbabwe in Gqeberha on June 20, the curtain-raiser to the Boks' clash with the Barbarians.
