Elrigh Louw has been added to the Springbok squad as forward cover ahead of Saturday's Nations Championship opener against England at Ellis Park, joining his team-mates in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The loose forward was a surprise omission from the original 46-man squad, having spent much of the 2025 season recovering from a serious knee injury sustained last season. His last Test appearance came against Wales in November 2024 — his 13th cap — but a strong return to form in the Bulls pack this year, including involvement in the Springbok alignment camps, has earned him the recall.

Louw was similarly left out of the July 2024 Test squad before going on to feature 10 times for Erasmus that season.

After the England fixture, the Boks host Scotland at Loftus on 11 July and Wales at Kings Park on 18 July.
