The SA U20s are two from two in the U20 International Series after dismantling Fiji 82-25 at Wynberg Boys' High School in Cape Town on Tuesday, running in 12 tries and leading 56-11 at the break.
Captain Vusi Moyo, in his second season with the Junior Boks, again played the full 80 minutes and contributed 22 points — identical to his return against Chile last week — converting 11 of his 12 attempts. Despite the commanding margin, both Moyo and head coach Kevin Foote pointed to a late lapse in concentration that allowed Fiji to post several consolation tries.
"We spoke a lot this week about having a strong test-match mentality and improving our maturity in how we manage the game, and I think that definitely showed today," said Moyo. "But that's something we'll definitely look at — Fiji deserve credit as they tested us, and that's important for our growth."
Moyo cited the influence of Riley Norton and Esethu Mnebelele in shaping his leadership, describing the squad's internal culture as a genuine strength: "We've got a special group — the bond in this team is something I really value."
Foote was encouraged by the depth on display across the squad, noting that players are consistently pressing for selection. He confirmed rotation will continue when the Junior Boks face Georgia on Saturday at Paul Roos Gymnasium's Markötter Stadium in Stellenbosch, with the Junior World Championship in Georgia now a month away.
"Georgia will be physical and passionate, and it's another great step for us as we build towards the Junior World Champs," said Foote.
