The Blitzboks will meet Australia in Sunday's HSBC World Championship final in Valladolid after beating Argentina 19-7 in a high-quality semifinal.
The match was a typically physical affair against Los Pumas, with Argentina taking a halftime lead after Santiago Vera Feld finished a remarkable end-to-end move that featured multiple offloads under pressure, cancelling out Sebastian Jobb's opening try. Argentina also denied Selvyn Davids what looked a certain score with a crucial tackle just before the break.
The Blitzboks dominated the second half. Ricardo Duarttee's individual try — stepping through virtually the entire Argentina defence — put South Africa ahead, and Ryan Oosthuizen sealed the win with a late score.
Australia earned their place in the final by beating Fiji 21-14 in the other semifinal. South Africa beat Argentina in the inaugural World Championship tournament in Hong Kong last month, and the Valladolid final gives the Blitzboks the opportunity to avenge their earlier pool defeat against the Australians.
The final kicks off at 16:26 CAT.
