SA Rugby and Nike have unveiled a limited-edition Springbok jersey for the Castle Double Malt Rugby's Greatest Rivalry Tour, with the design carrying the lyrics of Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika printed in the shape of the South African flag across the chest in all five anthem languages — Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho, Afrikaans, and English.
The jersey will be worn exclusively across the four Greatest Rivalry Tests, beginning with the opener against the All Blacks at 10bet Ellis Park on August 22 — the first Test series between the two nations in 30 years.
Built on Nike's FIT ADV platform, the kit is engineered for the physical demands of the modern game with a lightweight, performance-focused construction.
"This truly is a Tour like no other and so is this jersey," said SA Rugby CEO Rian Oberholzer. "Nike have outdone themselves in developing a design that speaks directly and honestly to the motivation of the team and management — they play for the people of South Africa and wear their hearts on their sleeve; now they will wear the words of the anthem on their chests."
The jersey goes on sale Thursday, August 6, at three price points through Nike stores, Nike.com, Springbok retail outlets in Sandton, Menlyn Park and Canal Walk, and major sports retailers.
