Former Springboks Jongi Nokwe and Keegan Daniel are among 50 coaches — 48 from South Africa and two from Zimbabwe — invited to participate in World Rugby Level 3 coaching courses to be held in Pretoria and Cape Town in November.

The courses, run through SA Rugby's Participation & Development Department, follow the successful completion last month of the country's first standalone World Rugby Level 3 course dedicated to women coaches.

Nokwe, who represented Western Province throughout his playing career, is listed among five WP coaches attending the Cape Town-based southern course. Daniel, who retired after a decorated career with the Sharks, is one of five Sharks coaches on the same list.

General Manager Ian Schwartz said the investment reflects SA Rugby's broader development mandate. "World Rugby Level 3 represents an important step at the higher end of the coaching pathway, and investing in coaches at this level strengthens the knowledge, leadership and quality of coaching across our game."

Senior Manager for Training and Education Hilton Adonis, one of the course facilitators, outlined a curriculum spanning periodised season planning, game and player analysis, player profiling and team selection, tactical game plans, player welfare, and the management of coaching teams. Attendees will also be assessed through coaching sessions and match observations within their own team environments.

The northern course draws coaches from the Blue Bulls, Free State, Golden Lions, Griffons, Griquas, Leopards, Limpopo, Pumas, Valke, and Zimbabwe, while the southern course includes representatives from Boland, Border, Eastern Province, Griquas, the Sharks, SWD, Western Province, and the SADF.
