Cheetahs snap up Junior World Champion Malgas from Stormers

The Cheetahs have signed versatile back Dominic Malgas from the Stormers. The 21-year-old, a member of South Africa's 2025 U20 World Championship-winning squad, covers the full back three and is a capable goal-kicker.

The Cheetahs have secured the signing of utility back Dominic Malgas from the Stormers ahead of their 2026/27 Challenge Cup campaign.

The 21-year-old, who can cover the full back three with a preference for fullback and is a reliable goal-kicker, impressed during the Stormers' 2026 Currie Cup campaign before earning his move to Bloemfontein.

Malgas earned five Junior Springbok caps and was part of the 2025 SA U20 squad that claimed the World Rugby U20 Championship title in Italy, ending South Africa's long wait for the trophy.

"I am really excited to start this next chapter with the Cheetahs," Malgas said. "I'm looking forward to getting to Bloemfontein, meeting the team, putting in the work and taking on this new challenge."
