The Barbarians have named Duhan van der Merwe, TJ Perenara and Andrew Kellaway among their squad to face the Springboks at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on 20 June, part of a double-header that also includes South Africa 'A' against Zimbabwe.

Van der Merwe, who lines up for Scotland having previously represented the Junior Springboks, pulls on the Barbarians jersey for the first time. Scotland teammates D'Arcy Rae and Liam McConnell have also been selected, with all three chosen in consultation with Gregor Townsend to ensure they carry match sharpness into Scotland's Nations Championship fixture against the Springboks at Loftus Versfeld on 11 July.

Perenara arrives with 89 Test caps, while Kellaway — 49 caps for the Wallabies — joins Argentinian flyhalf Tomás Albornoz and Uruguayan scrumhalf Santiago Arata in the backline. Further squad additions are expected.

Van der Merwe described the selection as a long-held ambition: "It is a massive honour and opportunity to represent them; it's something I've always wanted to be part of."

Tickets for the Gqeberha double-header remain on sale.
