New Zealand's 43-21 win over Australia in Sydney has trimmed the gap between the All Blacks and the Springboks at the top of the World Rugby rankings to just 0.82 rating points, with South Africa sitting on 93.09 and New Zealand moving to 92.27 after earning 0.46 points for the victory.

The win was New Zealand's 13th consecutive over Australia and their second in as many weeks following a 50-19 hammering at Eden Park that secured the Bledisloe Cup for a 24th straight year. In Sydney, Beauden Barrett scored twice, with Josh Moorby, Peter Lakai, Rieko Ioane and Wallace Sititi also crossing, before Moorby completed his brace in the second half. Tom Wright, Filipo Daugunu and Jeremy Williams replied for the Wallabies, who dominated the final quarter without making a dent in the outcome.

Australia, who entered the match with an opportunity to climb to fourth, instead drop one place to seventh on 84.43. Scotland are the beneficiaries, moving up one spot to sixth on 84.78 ahead of their November Nations Championship programme, which includes a home fixture against the All Blacks.
