Dave Rennie has added tighthead prop Ofa Tu'ungafasi and lock Jamie Hannah to his touring squad as concussion replacements for Ethan de Groot and Josh Lord, both of whom are working through World Rugby return-to-play protocols after suffering head injuries in the 33-16 first Test win over the Springboks.
The pair will fly directly to South Africa, arriving Monday, with the second Test at DHL Stadium, Cape Town scheduled for Saturday 29 August.
Tu'ungafasi, 34, brings 68 caps to the squad but has not featured under Rennie, having been omitted from the Nations Championship. Hannah, 23, returns for the first time since coming off the bench against France in July, having been a consistent starter for the Crusaders in 2026.
The injury list extends well beyond the two concussion cases. George Bell, Billy Proctor, Caleb Clark and Ollie Norris have already been sent home with tour-ending injuries, while Richie Mo'unga, Bradley Slater and Noah Hotham were previously added to the extended group. Anton Segner was a late withdrawal from the first Test 23 with an ankle concern, and Cortez Ratima is carrying a knee issue sustained against the Bulls.
The All Blacks face the Lions on Tuesday before the Cape Town decider.
