Three of the four Women Super League 2 semi-final berths remain unresolved heading into Saturday's penultimate round of pool matches, with the Hollywood Foundation Pumas already through as defending champions and the Limpopo Blue Bulls eliminated.

Griquas gave themselves the best possible platform for a home semi-final with a 73-15 demolition of Limpopo at Suzuki Park, their biggest win of the campaign. Wing Maserati Bangaza ran in four tries and prop Nicole van Wyk scored a hat-trick — a rare feat from the front row — while centre Jennielee van Nel also crossed. Griquas led 27-5 at the break before piling on 46 second-half points. Limpopo, now on three consecutive defeats, face a difficult end to their season.

In Potchefstroom, the Griffons edged the Leopards in a tight contest, with the visitors outscoring their hosts in the second half to build a 31-21 lead before the Leopards fought back to 31-28 through a Mtshweni hat-trick. A penalty kick from scrumhalf Pinkie Touto proved decisive, pushing the Griffons to 34-28, and although Mtshweni completed her treble late on, the conversion was missed and the Griffons held on.

The Leopards, who had led Griquas at halftime the previous weekend before conceding a late try to lose, now face the same Griffons side on Saturday knowing defeat ends their campaign. The Griffons travel the short distance from Welkom to Olën Park aware that a win — depending on other results — could lift them as high as third on the log.

Griquas, averaging 42-25 across the pool phase, travel to Greenhaven Stadium in Groot-Brakrivier to face fourth-placed SWD Eagirls. A win secures Griquas a home semi-final in Kimberley. The Eagirls sit on 10 log points from four matches and will have home support behind them, but face a Griquas side that is hitting top form at the right moment.

The Pumas, averaging 54-16 across five matches, host the Valke in White River in a match the East Rand side must win to stay alive — a task that looks steep given the hosts' unbeaten record and dominant scoring margin against the Valke's average of 27-37.

All three matches kick off simultaneously at 13h00 on Saturday 8 August.
