Western Province XV produced a commanding second-half turnaround at Grey High School in Gqeberha on Thursday, overcoming a 14-0 deficit to beat the Golden Lions 43-33 and maintain their perfect record at the FNB U18 Craven Week.
The Lions controlled the opening exchanges and led 19-10 at half-time, but WP XV outscored them heavily after the break. Wing Thomas Saunders finished with a hat-trick and flyhalf Travis Pheiffer converted five of his side's tries in the 10-point victory.
The Griffons, Pumas and Blue Bulls also won on day four, each bouncing back from defeats on Tuesday.
The Griffons accounted for the Valke 29-12, crossing five times with wings Shovee de Villiers and Qlin Booyse each scoring two tries.
The Pumas were the day's biggest scorers in their 54-14 dismissal of Border, running in eight tries. No 8 Vian Louw dotted down twice and flyhalf Ewan van der Merwe contributed 15 points.
The Blue Bulls were equally dominant against Griquas, winning 59-19. Fullback Drewyn Baron scored twice and flyhalf Ruan Fluks converted seven of his side's nine tries.
All 16 teams return to action at Grey High on Saturday for the final round of the FNB U18 Craven Week, with the headline fixture on A-field pitting WP against an unbeaten WP XV at 12h00. The Bulls face Free State at 10h00, while the Sharks meet the Lions at 11h30.
