Felipe Contepomi has named a 34-man Argentina squad featuring 10 uncapped players for Tests against South Africa and Australia next month, with the fallout from their controversial loss to England leaving Los Pumas without captain Julián Montoya and fly-half Tomás Albornoz through suspension.
The uncapped players called into the training camp at Cardales are Facundo Cardozo, Franco Carrera, Agustín Fraga, Francisco Moreno, Benjamín Ordiz, Leonel Oviedo, Juan Penoucos, Juan Martín Scelzo, Mateo Soler and Tobías Wade.
Argentina host the Springboks at the José Amalfitani Stadium in Buenos Aires on 8 August before back-to-back Tests against Australia in Jujuy on 29 August and Mendoza on 5 September.
Montoya and Albornoz were both banned following the ill-tempered Test against England, after players surrounded the match officials at the final whistle. Contepomi himself drew sharp criticism for his conduct, with the absences of his first-choice captain and starting fly-half adding further pressure to the camp's preparation.
Contepomi cited player welfare as a factor in the squad's composition, noting that some regulars have been rested to allow broader development. "Physical and mental health is crucial for us, and that's why several players will be rested, allowing us to broaden the squad and work with new players," he said.
The 8 August fixture will be Argentina's first home Test against South Africa in the Rugby Championship.
