Southwestern Districts are the 2026 Hollywood Foundation Iqhawe Week champions after edging Border 10-7 in the final at HTS Drostdy in Worcester on Thursday. The Eagles won all their matches across the week, as did the Griffons, with Western Province and Border also finishing among the tournament's standout teams.
Sixteen teams representing all of SA Rugby's provincial unions competed across three match days from Monday 28 September, with hosts Boland fielding two sides. The Limpopo Blue Bulls and the Golden Lions were singled out by organisers for the progress they showed throughout the week.
SA Rugby's General Manager for Participation and Development, Ian Schwartz, described the talent on display as arguably the strongest in recent years, pointing specifically to the number of players emerging from smaller and rural schools. SA Rugby President Mark Alexander credited the SA Rugby Legends Association's Vuka Programme as a direct driver of the pipeline, noting that former players investing their time through the initiative are helping players from underserved communities access pathways regardless of background or geography.
Jessie Claassen, Director of Vuka Rugby at SARLA, thanked the Hollywood Foundation for its continued sponsorship support, as well as HTS Drostdy and the coaches, officials and volunteers who made the week possible.
