The Springboks have arrived in Buenos Aires ahead of Saturday's Test against Argentina at Estadio José Amalfitani, travelling in two separate groups via São Paulo and landing within an hour of each other after midnight local time on Sunday.
The squad has been given Sunday off to rest and acclimatise before returning to the training field on Monday. Rassie Erasmus described the travel as demanding but said the groundwork had already been completed at a training camp in Johannesburg earlier in the week.
"It's great to be back in Buenos Aires, and we're looking forward to the challenge of facing the Pumas here once again," said Erasmus. "It was a long journey, and there is a fair time difference between the countries, so the players will have time to rest and acclimatise today, and then we'll return to the training field tomorrow. Fortunately, we did most of the groundwork for the match at our training camp in Johannesburg earlier this week, so we have a good base to build on in the next few days."
Erasmus has taken a 26-man squad to Argentina that includes Siya Kolisi and Eben Etzebeth, with Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu confirmed to feature. Players who remained in South Africa for preparations tied to the All Blacks series will rejoin the group on Sunday and resume training on Monday.
Erasmus is set to consult his coaching staff on Sunday before deciding when to release the matchday squad, with a Monday announcement consistent with his recent practice. The Argentina Test is the Springboks' final outing before the Greatest Rivalry opener against New Zealand on 22 August at Ellis Park.
