The Springboks recorded a 43-0 victory over Wales in their Nations Championship Round Three clash at Durban on Saturday, denying the visitors any points for the second consecutive meeting between the sides — following November's 73-0 demolition in Cardiff.

The win, secured with a bonus point, is the Springboks' third in succession in July and sends them back to the top of the Southern Hemisphere standings ahead of the tournament's northern-hemisphere leg later this year.

Four debutants featured in the starting lineup: loosehead prop Carlu Sadie, lock Ruben van Heerden, flyhalf Vusi Moyo and right wing Jaco Williams. Williams made an immediate impression, scoring a try and creating another, while Moyo landed three conversions.

Jasper Wiese got the Boks off the mark in the fifth minute, crashing through two defenders to open the scoring. A dominant scrum set up the second try, with Cobus Reinach collecting and sprinting clear. Jesse Kriel rounded off the first-half scoring, pouncing on a loose ball after Moyo's cross-kick.

Despite controlling possession and territory throughout, the Boks were wasteful with ball in hand at times, but the second half continued in the same vein. Williams scored shortly after the restart when Wales failed to deal with a high ball, and Herschel Jantjies — returning to Test rugby off the bench — added a well-worked fifth try in the 63rd minute, with Williams again involved down the touchline.

Ben Warren was sinbinned for a high tackle on Marco van Staden, and the Boks capitalised further with Kurt-Lee Arendse and Paul de Villiers touching down late to complete the rout.

De Villiers was named man of the match for a consistently influential display at the breakdown and around the park, capped by his try at the death.

Scorers — South Africa: Tries: Wiese, Reinach, Kriel, Williams, Jantjies, Arendse, De Villiers; Cons: Moyo 3, Libbok. Wales: None.

Yellow card: Ben Warren (Wales, 65' — high tackle).
