Jean Kleyn is the latest Springbok lock to be sidelined, with Munster confirming he is unavailable for their URC Round 17 clash against Connacht on Saturday after suffering a biceps injury during the 41-14 win over Ulster two weeks ago.
The 32-year-old joins an increasingly lengthy list of injured South African second rows. RG Snyman has been ruled out for the season after rupturing his ACL in March, Eben Etzebeth is on the sidelines with a hip injury sustained in the Sharks' 12-29 Challenge Cup play-off defeat to Connacht, and Salmaan Moerat has been absent since January with a toe injury — though he could feature on the Stormers' upcoming tour.
For Munster, Tadhg Beirne (knee), Tom Farrell (shoulder) and Oli Jager (head) are also unavailable, though Jack Crowley has recovered from the leg complaint that forced him off late against Ulster and is in contention for Saturday. Fineen Wycherley has returned to training this week, while prop Roman Salanoa played 20 minutes for Munster 'A' against Connacht Eagles on Friday and is edging closer to first-team selection.
