Solontsi named Bok Women captain for Ireland series as Latsha ruled out

Sizophila Solontsi takes over the Springbok Women captaincy for the two WXV Global Series Tests against Ireland in Cape Town after Babalwa Latsha was ruled out with an ankle injury, with Unam Tose named vice-captain. Nombuyekezo Mdliki also misses out with a rib injury, and replacements for both players are to be confirmed Monday.

Sizophila Solontsi takes over the Springbok Women captaincy for the final two WXV Global Series Tests against Ireland — in Cape Town on 24 and 31 October — after Babalwa Latsha was ruled out with an ankle injury. Unam Tose, who co-captained the side alongside Solontsi against Italy last month, is named vice-captain for the series, which marks the first time Ireland have faced South Africa on home soil.

Latsha was withdrawn from the squad on Saturday at the end of the Stellenbosch training camp. Nombuyekezo Mdliki also misses out, having failed to recover from the rib injury she sustained against Spain earlier this month. Both players' replacements are expected to be confirmed on Monday.
