Siyabonga 'Scarra' Ntubeni will make his final appearance for the Stormers in their URC Round 15 home fixture against Connacht at Cape Town Stadium, bringing down the curtain on a career spanning well over a decade at the franchise.

The 35-year-old hooker confirmed the news at a media scrum, saying he and coach John Dobson had been discussing the decision since earlier in the year.

"I knew this day was going to come. The last few months have come quicker than a thought," Ntubeni said. "It is time for me to take a bow and it would be nice to play my last game here at this stadium."

Ntubeni will not disappear from the setup entirely — he intends to remain available should the Stormers require experienced cover at hooker during the remainder of the season.

Among the career highlights he reflects on: his nine minutes of Test rugby against Argentina in 2019, reaching 100 Stormers appearances in the URC fixture against the Sharks in December 2023, and the 2012 Currie Cup final victory over the Sharks in Durban.
