The SA Under-18s posted a 51-15 victory over Ireland on Tuesday at Boland Landbou near Wellington, their second win in as many matches at the U18 International Series. The result follows last Friday's 59-7 demolition of France, making it back-to-back half-centuries for the young South Africans.
The hosts were in control from the outset, leading 24-5 at half-time before running out eight-try winners. Jacobus de Villiers and Charles Whitehead each crossed twice, with further tries from Lamla Mgedezi, Anesu Kuzonyei, Stefan van der Vyfer and Clement Makelele. Achmat Behardien and Ethan van Biljon shared the conversion duties, with Van Biljon adding a penalty. Ireland's points came through tries from Alex Moloney, Luke Coffey and Johnny Woods.
Earlier in the day, the SA U18 'A' side beat Georgia, while England defeated France in the second match.
The series concludes on Saturday at Stellenberg HS in Cape Town's northern suburbs. SA U18 'A' face France at 11h30, Ireland meet Georgia at 13h30, and the SA U18s close out proceedings against England at 15h30. All three matches are live on SuperSport and YouTube.
