The SA Under-18 side completed a third consecutive unbeaten U18 International Series campaign with a 68-40 victory over England U18 in the final round at Stellenberg High School in Cape Town, while the SA U18 'A' side wrapped up their own undefeated series with a 51-26 win over France U18.
England drew first blood through Archie Guyver after a sweeping backline move, but South Africa overturned the early deficit rapidly. Charles Whitehead scored from a driving maul before Ncutu Kepe and Jacobus de Villiers — the SA captain — added further tries, with Ethan van Biljon converting both to put the hosts 19-7 ahead. Van Biljon, playing on his home school field at Stellenberg, converted a second Kepe try on the stroke of half-time to stretch the lead to 26-14 before England's Charlie Bray replied from a maul to leave it 26-19 at the break.
The second half belonged emphatically to South Africa. Replacement hooker Theo Boshoff crossed three times, all from driving mauls, while Van Biljon added another try and Anesu Kuzonyei finished a Achmat Behardien crossfield kick out wide. Behardien slotted three conversions as the hosts surged to 68-40, despite England showing enough character to score three second-half tries through Taine Elone, an unnamed back, and replacement Jack McIntosh.
The SA U18 'A' side's 51-26 result over France completed an unbeaten series for both South African squads — the senior group having already accounted for France and Ireland in the opening two rounds.
