Cobus Reinach has backed rookie flyhalf Vusi Moyo to handle the pressure of his Springbok debut when South Africa face Wales at Kings Park on Saturday evening.

Moyo, 20, is one of four players set to earn their first Test caps in Durban, alongside wing Jaco Williams, lock Ruben van Heerden and prop Carlu Sadie. The flyhalf made his senior franchise debut for the Sharks earlier this season and was still eligible for the Junior Springboks, who contest their final against France in Georgia on the same day.

Speaking at a media briefing, Moyo described the moment he received the call-up. "It's every kid's dream to be part of this Springbok set-up," he said. "When the call came through on Monday, my heart missed a beat. It's very special to be around Cobus and the other players around me. Personally, it's about making my family and the people that have been with me along the way proud."

Reinach, who will partner Moyo at halfback, believes the youngster possesses the composure required for Test rugby. The scrumhalf's endorsement carries weight given his experience alongside multiple playmakers in the Springbok system. Moyo has had the opportunity to learn from established figures such as Handre Pollard and Manie Libbok since joining the squad last month, and he acknowledged the accelerated decision-making required at international level. "This set-up is much bigger, and you have to make decisions a lot quicker," Moyo said.

Debutants seize their moment

The quartet of first-timers reflects Rassie Erasmus' continued rotation policy, with 10 changes made from the side that defeated Scotland at Loftus Versfeld. Van Heerden's selection ends a long wait for the Stormers lock, whose consistent domestic form had previously been overlooked due to depth in the position. Sadie, 29, has impressed for Union Bordeaux Bègles since leaving the Sharks, whilst Williams is just one year removed from the under-20 system.

Moyo emphasised the collective nature of the occasion. "Ruben, Carlu, and Jaco are all making their debuts too, so it's important for all of us to implement what the coaches have taught us going into this weekend," he said. "It's not just about me; it's about those guys as well."

The match kicks off at 17h40 and represents South Africa's final home fixture in the inaugural Nations Championship. For Moyo and his fellow debutants, it offers a platform to stake a claim in a squad that has made depth a cornerstone of its World Cup success.
