Three of the competition's form sides host in round four of the Pick n Pay Women's Super League 2 on Saturday, with the Hollywood Foundation Pumas Women making their home debut this season, AVBOB Griquas welcoming the Valke, and the Griffons hosting SWD Eagirls.
The Pumas are the standout performers so far, racking up 176 points and 30 tries across three away wins — an average of 10 tries per match. Backs Alicia Mahlalela and Megan Guambe lead the try-scoring charts with six each, followed by Pauline Sianga (4) and Jibrene Dube (3). Mahlalela will be absent on Saturday, but Limpopo Blue Bulls — who have conceded 167 points and scored just 70 in the competition — arrive in Mbombela in no position to take comfort from that news.
Griquas carry similar momentum into their home match, having put 73 points past Limpopo last weekend. The Valke, who edged Limpopo 37-36 in round two for their sole win of the campaign, face a Griquas side whose confidence is high at Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley.
In Welkom, the Griffons take on a refreshed SWD Eagirls team returning from a bye weekend. SWD — coached by Elize Arendse with Nicolene Barendse as assistant — won away against the Valke in round one before losing to the Leopards in George, giving Arendse's staff a fortnight to regroup. The Griffons, who scored five tries against the Valke last weekend, will be tested by a side known to improve as the season progresses.
The Leopards Women are on a bye.
