Three unbeaten or winning sides take to their home venues in round four of the Pick n Pay Women's Super League 2 on Saturday, with the Hollywood Foundation Pumas Women, AVBOB Griquas Women and Griffons Women all hosting.
The Pumas, who have been the standout side of the competition, make their Nelspruit Rugby Club debut this season having won all three of their opening fixtures on the road. Their attack has been prolific — 176 points and 30 tries across three matches — with Alicia Mahlalela and Megan Guambe each dotting down six times, Pauline Sianga four and Jibrene Dube three. Limpopo Blue Bulls, who have shipped 167 points and scored only 70, arrive as the opposition, though the Pumas will be without Mahlalela for this one.
Griquas host the Valke at Suzuki Park off the back of a 73-15 demolition of Limpopo last weekend. The Valke's only win this season came against Limpopo in round two, and they edged that fixture by a single point (37-36) — a margin that underlines the gulf between the two home sides' form against the same opponent. The Valke have shown resilience, however, and Griquas will need a full 80-minute performance to secure back-to-back wins.
In Welkom, the Griffons take on an SWD Eagirls side that has had a bye week to regroup. SWD split their opening two fixtures — winning away against the Valke before losing to the Leopards in George — and head coaches Elize Arendse and Nicolene Barendse will have used the fortnight to sharpen their preparation. The Griffons bring five tries against the Valke last weekend into this fixture with growing attacking confidence.
The Leopards Women are on a bye.
