Handré Pollard is reportedly in doubt for Saturday's second Rugby's Greatest Rivalry Test against the All Blacks at DHL Stadium after sustaining a calf injury in training, according to Netwerk24. Pollard had been named at No.10 by Rassie Erasmus for the Cape Town fixture, replacing Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu who started the series opener in Johannesburg.
Should Pollard be ruled out, Erasmus must choose between Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Manie Libbok to slot in at flyhalf. Both are on the bench in the currently announced squad, with Feinberg-Mngomezulu listed at 23 and Libbok not included — suggesting a late reshuffle would be required. Libbok started the Boks' 35-7 demolition of New Zealand at Twickenham in 2023, while Feinberg-Mngomezulu has lost just one Test starting at flyhalf for the Springboks.
Elsewhere in the confirmed team, Siya Kolisi has cleared his fitness test and will captain the side, having been listed as bracketed with Paul de Villiers earlier in the week. His presence completes a back row alongside Jasper Wiese and Pieter-Steph du Toit — the 17th time the trio has started together, equalling the all-time record held by Francois Louw, Willem Alberts and Duane Vermeulen. Du Toit earns his 100th Test cap in the process.
Kick-off at DHL Stadium is at 17:10 SAST on Saturday, 29 August, with Angus Gardner refereeing.
