Handré Pollard is reportedly set to miss the second Rugby's Greatest Rivalry Test against the All Blacks in Cape Town on Saturday after sustaining a calf injury in training, according to Netwerk24. Erasmus had named Pollard at flyhalf for the DHL Stadium fixture, moving him in ahead of Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who started the series opener in Johannesburg.
If Pollard is ruled out, Erasmus must choose between Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Manie Libbok, with the latter currently listed among the replacements. Feinberg-Mngomezulu started and lost just one Test at flyhalf for the Boks, while Libbok started the 35-7 demolition of New Zealand at Twickenham in 2023.
Elsewhere in the squad, Siya Kolisi has cleared the fitness test that had placed his availability in doubt, and will captain the side as named, with Paul de Villiers reverting to a non-starting role. Kolisi packs down in a back row alongside Jasper Wiese and Pieter-Steph du Toit, the latter earning his 100th Test cap. It marks the 17th time that specific trio has started together for the Boks, equalling the all-time record set by François Louw, Willem Alberts and Duane Vermeulen.
