Danelle Lochner has committed to Harlequins for a further season, signing on for the 2026/27 Premiership Women's Rugby campaign. The lock, who joined the English club in 2023 after starting her rugby career at Brackenfell Rugby Club in Cape Town just a year earlier, has made 26 appearances for the Quarters since then.
Lochner was part of the Springbok Women's squad that reached the Rugby World Cup 2025 quarterfinals — a first in South African women's rugby history — and returned from injury for Quins against Bristol Bears at the Principality Stadium in March.
"I can't imagine playing for a different team, and I am really excited to see what next season has in store," Lochner said following confirmation of her re-signing.
Head coach Ross Chisholm cited her set-piece influence and attacking dynamism as key factors in the club's decision to retain her. "She is superb in the set-piece and an incredibly dynamic player in attack. We're really excited about seeing her take her game to the next level," he said.
Lochner also holds national honours in netball, making her one of a rare group of South African athletes with dual-sport international recognition.
