Cheslin Kolbe has been ruled out of the Springboks' final Greatest Rivalry Test against the All Blacks in Baltimore after Rassie Erasmus confirmed he sustained a broken jaw in Saturday's victory. Carlu Sadie, Boan Venter, Ntuthuko Mchunu and Ben-Jason Dixon — the latter still experiencing concussion symptoms — will also remain behind, leaving the squad short ahead of what is a series-deciding fourth Test with the Springboks leading 2-1.
Erasmus has indicated that Damian Willemse and Aphelele Fassi are both available to cover the back three in Kolbe's absence.
Meanwhile, the Wallabies, who drew their final Rugby Championship match against Argentina in Mendoza on Saturday despite leading 14-0 at one stage, now turn their attention to the Springboks Test. Captain Harry Wilson acknowledged the squad's frustration at failing to convert the win, saying "the boys are hurting" and that there was "a lot of disappointment" in the dressing room, despite clinching the series. Wilson nonetheless pointed to the series trophy and a run of recent wins as a source of confidence heading into the Springbok fixture.
