Wales edged the Barbarians 33-31 in a ten-try thriller at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, on Saturday, recording back-to-back international wins for the first time since the 2023 World Cup ahead of their Nations Championship campaign.

Vincent Koch gave the Barbarians an early foothold, powering over from a lineout maul to make it 7-5 after Wales had opened through scrumhalf Kieran Hardy. Faf de Klerk was a consistent threat for the Baabaas, breaking from scrums and driving their best attacking moments, though handling errors — including a knock-on from Giorgi Kharaishvili that ended one promising De Klerk break — repeatedly stalled their momentum.

Wales flyhalf Dan Edwards scored a first-half hat-trick of sorts across both halves, finishing in the corner twice before the break and adding a third after a counter-attack sparked by Ellis Mee, to give the hosts a 26-10 cushion midway through the second half.

George North, introduced to a standing ovation in what proved to be the final appearance of his career, scored with his first touch and added a second try late on, also kicking the final conversion. Alex Nankivell and Santiago Arata also crossed for the Barbarians, who scored five tries in total, but Wales' 16-point buffer proved insurmountable. Mee added Wales' fifth try after an earlier score was ruled out for obstruction, with Sam Costelow converting to seal the result.

The final scoreline of 33-31 gave the Barbarians hope only on the board. Wales now face Fiji, Argentina and the Springboks in the Nations Championship.
