The Snyman name returns to Springbok colours as 18-year-old Keira Snyman — daughter of former Springbok André Snyman — has been included as an additional player in the 30-member Junior Springbok Women squad for a two-Test series against USA Women U20 in Stellenbosch.
Born in Durban and raised across the USA and England, the versatile back can play wing or centre and has taken an unconventional route into South African rugby. After attending USA U18 sevens camps, she spent the bulk of the past season in England, earning recognition from both England and USA Rugby through her performances for invitational sevens teams. She also featured in England U18 Women's training camps and helped Saracens feeder club Old Albanians' Junior Saints U18 side win the RFU National Cup and the Hertfordshire league title.
Her father André earned 38 Test caps and scored 10 tries for the Springboks.
Head coach Hayden Groepes described the programme as focused on exposing players to elite standards and building a sustainable pathway into senior international rugby, with the squad's composition reflecting SA Rugby's broader drive to identify and integrate overseas-based players who qualify for South Africa.
The squad also includes full Springbok Women internationals Abigail Smit and Zethu Gcaza, both of whom made their senior Test debuts at the Rugby Africa Women's Cup in Kenya earlier this year.
The USA U20 touring party is coached by Katie Dowty and includes Bella Vogel, who featured for the Eagles in the senior Test series against the Springbok Women.
