The Junior Springboks will face Wales at the Avchala Stadium on Tuesday afternoon with top spot in Pool A and a semi-final berth on the line. Both teams enter the fixture unbeaten, setting up what promises to be a knockout-style encounter in Tbilisi.
South Africa sit atop the pool standings with 10 points from victories over Uruguay and Georgia, while Wales trail by a single point after their own unbeaten start to the tournament. The match kicks off at 16h00 South African time and will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
Junior Bok captain Siphosethu Mnebelele and prop Oliver Reid have stressed that the build-up has centred on maintaining the culture and standards established within the squad rather than fixating on log permutations. Reid, who has featured for the Stormers in the United Rugby Championship, will start in the front row alongside Mnebelele at hooker and Danie Kruger at prop.
"Leadership in this side is about taking responsibility for your own actions first," Reid said. "You want to help the younger players where you can, but at the same time you must be open to learning from them as well. We have built an environment where responsibility is shared across the group and everyone contributes."
That collective mindset has become a defining feature of the Junior Bok campaign. Reid also pointed to the squad's depth and the confidence that comes from knowing quality replacements are ready to make an impact when called upon. "One of the strengths of this group is the depth we have and the trust we have in each other," he said. "We know every player has a job to do."
