Halfpenny joins Wales coaching staff for Nations Championship Bok clash

Leigh Halfpenny joins Steve Tandy's Wales coaching staff as interim kicking coach for the July Nations Championship fixtures, which include a match against the Springboks.

Leigh Halfpenny will serve as interim kicking coach for Wales during rounds one to three of the Nations Championship in July, covering away matches against Fiji, Argentina and South Africa on consecutive weekends.

The 101-cap Welsh great — who sits third on the all-time men's points list with 801 — previously worked with Wales under then interim head coach Matt Sherratt during last year's two-Test series in Japan, and also coached the Welsh U20s in 2022. He will again work alongside Sherratt, now in the attack coach role under head coach Steve Tandy.

Tandy cited the benefit his young backs will draw from Halfpenny's experience, while Halfpenny described the Nations Championship opportunity as a continuation of his coaching development.
