Deon Fourie was the pick of the Stormers players in their 38-21 defeat to the All Blacks at DHL Stadium on Friday, earning a rating of 9 from a performance that included a try, a try assist for Seabelo Senatla, 13 tackles and two turnovers in 62 minutes on the field.
Debutant flyhalf Yaqeen Ahmed was another bright spot, handling the occasion with composure and earning a 7 for his distribution and ability to vary the attack against the All Blacks defence. Hacjivah Dayimani also rated a 7, finishing with a team-high 57 metres gained and 14 tackles, while Neethling Fouche (7) and André-Hugo Venter (7) impressed up front — Venter notably making a 40-metre run down the touchline before being replaced by JJ Kotzé in the 65th minute.
The Stormers lost scrumhalf Imad Khan to a leg injury inside the first five minutes, with Dewaldt Duvenage taking over. Captain Ruan Nel, restricted to defensive duties, was replaced at half-time by Wandisile Simelane having made little impact on attack. Evan Roos, despite carrying strongly throughout, was penalised for a knock-on close to the All Blacks' try-line shortly after the restart. Leolin Zas was the lowest-rated player at 4, missing three tackles and seeing limited ball.
Senatla finished with a try to his name after a more involved second half, while Warrick Gelant's otherwise solid display was undermined by a missed tackle on Leroy Carter in the build-up to the winger's try.
