Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and Evan Roos were the standout performers as the Stormers delivered a commanding URC victory over Glasgow Warriors at DHL Stadium on Saturday, running in a dominant 48-12 scoreline.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu finished with 23 points — a try, six conversions and two penalties — in a performance that recovered well from an early lapse. His needless grubber in the first half gifted possession that led to Ollie Smith's try for the visitors, but he more than made amends, most notably with a precise grubber kick that set up skipper Ruhan Nel's second-half try.
Roos, the URC's leading try-scorer, crossed again in the first half and was equally influential with the ball in hand and on defence, finishing with a match-high 18 tackles.
Loosehead prop Ntuthuko Mchunu, earning his early Springbok rookie stripes, shook off an injury scare in the opening stages to cross for two tries, with Neethling Fouché providing a sharp offload from a choreographed move on the Glasgow five-metre line for one of them. Fouché also impressed at scrum time before being replaced in the 56th minute.
Ruben van Heerden was another forward who caught the eye — the Montpellier-bound lock was prominent as a ball carrier and lineout operator and made 13 tackles.
Cobus Reinach's afternoon was blemished by a yellow card late in the first half for a cynical defensive foul, though he was otherwise sharp with his service and dangerous in open play. André-Hugo Venter was forced off with a head knock in the 46th minute following an illegal hit from Adam Hastings.
Nel, captaining the side, added a try to an effective all-round display in midfield, while 18-year-old Markus Muller came off the bench to replace Wandisile Simelane after 66 minutes.
