Dan du Preez has suffered a hamstring tear in training and will miss Bath's next two Premiership fixtures. The back-rower did not feature in Bath's Champions Cup defeat to Montpellier at the weekend, having picked up the injury on the Thursday before the match.
"He unfortunately tore his hamstring on the Thursday before the game," Bath head of rugby Johann van Graan confirmed. "That will rule him out for a considerable amount of time."
Du Preez, who joined Bath from Sale Sharks this season, had made two appearances for the club, scoring two tries in that time.
The injury compounds Bath's back-row concerns, with Sam Underhill sidelined until December following bicep surgery, Billy Sela out until late November with a foot injury, and Jamie Bhatti not expected back until the New Year after forearm surgery. Some relief comes with Miles Reid passing his return-to-play protocols and being available for selection for this weekend's West Country derby against Gloucester.
