Curry starts at 7 as Pollock named on England bench for Ellis Park Test

Tom Curry starts at openside and Henry Pollock is named among the replacements as England, captained by Jamie George, prepare to face the Springboks at Ellis Park on Saturday in their Nations Championship opener.

Steve Borthwick has named his England team to face the Springboks at Ellis Park on Saturday, 4 July, with Jamie George captaining the side and Ollie Chessum and Ellis Genge serving as vice-captains.

Tom Curry starts at openside, with Henry Pollock among the replacements. Fin Smith gets the nod at flyhalf, with Jack van Poortvliet at scrumhalf and Ben Earl at number eight. The backline sees George Furbank at fullback, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso on the right wing, Tommy Freeman on the left, Seb Atkinson at inside centre and Cadan Murley completing the lineup.

The match is England's opening fixture in the inaugural Nations Championship. Kick-off is at 17:40 local time, with New Zealand's James Doleman refereeing.
