World Rugby has locked in the 2027 HSBC SVNS schedule, with Cape Town's fixture set for 5 and 6 December at DHL Stadium. The event marks the second stop on the circuit, following the season opener in Dubai, and carries added significance as teams begin their campaigns to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The Blitzboks, who claimed both the HSBC SVNS Series and World Championship titles in 2026, will return to their home venue seeking a hat-trick of Cape Town crowns. Tristan Leyds, named HSBC SVNS World Men's Player of the Year, remains a key figure in the squad alongside a strong contingent of Western Cape-based players. The 2027 series will feature eight men's and eight women's teams across six host cities — Dubai, Cape Town, Singapore, Perth, Vancouver and New York — before the World Championship stages in Hong Kong, Valladolid and Bordeaux. South Africa's men are joined in the competition by New Zealand, Spain, Australia, Argentina, Fiji, France and the United States. The 2026 season drew more than 530,000 fans globally, a 21 per cent increase on the previous year, with Hong Kong setting a single-day attendance record of 41,457. Tickets for the Cape Town leg will go on sale shortly, with supporters encouraged to register for updates.
