Captain Vianca Boer says the Springbok Women's Sevens 'A' side is ready to deliver for South Africa when they open their 2026 Rugby Africa Women's Sevens Cup campaign at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday.
The squad faces Rwanda (11h28), Zimbabwe (14h12) and Zambia (16h56) in Pool A, with six players set to make their international sevens debuts. Boer acknowledged Zimbabwe's physicality as a particular threat but said the squad has prepared answers.
"We came here with a young group of players who will be playing sevens at this level for the first time. We are expecting teams coming at us with their physicality, especially Zimbabwe, but we will have answers," said Boer.
Boer herself returns from a lengthy injury absence that required surgery and an extended rehabilitation period. She described her return as the squad's captain as an added bonus to simply being cleared to play again.
"There are no egos in the team, no one thinks they are excluded from doing the hard yards. There is a strong bond and we want to represent our country and make everyone proud," she said.
Pool A action will be live on Rugbypass.TV.
