The Barbarians have confirmed an initial wave of selections for their match against the Springboks at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 20 June, with Duhan van der Merwe, TJ Perenara and Andrew Kellaway among the headline names.

Van der Merwe, who pulls on the famous black-and-white jersey for the first time, is joined by Scotland teammates D'Arcy Rae and Liam McConnell. All three were selected in consultation with Gregor Townsend, with the arrangement designed to give them competitive minutes ahead of Scotland's Nations Championship clash against the Springboks at Loftus on 11 July.

Perenara arrives with 89 Test caps, while Kellaway — 49 caps for the Wallabies — joins an increasingly international backline that also features Argentine flyhalf Tomás Albornoz and Uruguayan scrumhalf Santiago Arata. Further squad announcements are expected.

The match forms part of a double-header that also features South Africa 'A' against Zimbabwe.
