The Junior Springboks returned home on Monday to a formal reception from SA Rugby president Mark Alexander, who praised the squad's courage, discipline and skill after they retained the World Rugby Under-20 Championship in Georgia on Saturday with a 16-5 victory over France.
The title follows their 2025 triumph in Italy, where they defeated New Zealand 23-15, making it back-to-back world championships at Under-20 level.
"The South African Rugby Union proudly salutes the Junior Springboks on their historic achievement in securing back-to-back World Rugby Under-20 Championship titles," said Alexander. "Winning consecutive world titles at the Under-20 level underscores the promise of a new generation ready to carry the Springbok legacy forward."
Alexander drew a direct line between the Junior Boks' achievement and SA Rugby's broader performance across all tiers. "With the Springboks having won consecutive Rugby World Cups, our Blitzboks reclaiming the World Rugby Sevens Series championship and now the Junior Boks securing back-to-back world titles, the evidence is clear: our pathways and pipeline are working, strong and healthy."
The senior Springboks are next in action on 8 August against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
